We are mountain people who make a living working in the backcountry with no regular cell or internet service. Your inquiries are important to us and we will respond to your emails and phone calls as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Galena Mountain Guides Ltd operates trips in Wilderness and Alpine terrain. There are many risks, dangers and hazards inherent to this environment, some of which include: avalanches, cornices, crevasses, cliffs, trees, creeks, rockfall, variable and difficult travel conditions, illness, equipment failure, wild animals, getting lost, difficulty in or lack of communication and/or rescue, unpredictable weather and mistakes made by guides.
Galena Mountain Guides Ltd requires that all guests sign a release of liability waiver form before the start of their trip. Please read the following waiver. You will be asked to sign this waiver, which we will provide, at the start of your trip: Release of Liability Waiver.
To make a booking, please contact us using the Contact Form above. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible to confirm the trip and arrange for payment at that time. A deposit of 20% of the total trip price is required at the time of booking to reserve your spot, with the final payment made via wire or e-transfer 60 days prior to the start of the trip (banking information on demand). Alternatively, payment can be made via personal cheque, payable to Galena Mountain Guides Ltd., PO Box 1995, Revelstoke, BC, V0E 2S0, Canada. If the final payment for your booking is not received in a timely fashion we will open up that spot to someone else.
Should you need to cancel your booking for any reason, the following cancellation policy will apply:
-- 60 days before the trip starts: Full refund.
-- Between 60 and 30 days prior to trip: No refund on Deposit (20%), Balance refunded.
-- Less than 30 days before trip: No refund.
-- Anytime during the trip: No refund.
-- Cancellations must be received in writing (email).
We recommend that you purchase cancellation insurance, see below for details. If you can find someone to fill your spot, the above cancellation penalties will not apply and the booking will proceed under the new person's name. If you choose to leave partway through a trip, you will be responsible for all related expenses including helicopter transportation.
When we confirm your booking we are guaranteeing that the trip will depart. If we cancel a trip for any reason prior to the start date, a full refund will be provided. If we are forced to cancel a trip partway in which all participants are still willing and able to continue, a full refund for the unused portion of the trip will be provided.
After we confirm your trip, Galena Mountain Guides Ltd. cannot refund payment or release you from your contractual obligation except in the conditions stated in our cancellation policy above. To avoid unnecessary cancellation penalties, cancellation insurance is strongly recommended in the event you cannot participate or if your trip is interrupted "for any reason". This type of insurance is available from most insurance companies and we recommend the Simpson Group or Lifestyle. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding our policy or obtaining insurance.
All participants are recommended to have personal, internationally accepted medical insurance for all activities pertaining to your trip, including emergency rescue and evacuation. Please be aware that rescue evacuation expenses are not covered by the province of BC unless you are a citizen of BC and a PEP # has been issued through a Search and Rescue organization, which usually creates major delays in evacuation. Please ensure that your insurance covers "roped travel" if you're booking a more technical trip. We recommend purchasing an annual alpine club membership which includes global rescue/evacuation insurance: Alpine Club of Canada, American Alpine Club, Federation Francaise des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne or Lifestyle.
